Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – Authorities in Mobile are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred early Saturday evening, leaving a male pedestrian injured. The collision happened at approximately 6:10 p.m. along the busy stretch of Government Street near Hamilton Street, a location known for heavy weekend traffic.

Police reports indicate the victim was attempting to cross Government Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling through the area. Responding officers found the man suffering from injuries classified as non-life-threatening. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

The driver involved in the incident fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, prompting an immediate search of the surrounding area. Investigators are working to identify the vehicle and driver, reviewing potential surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences.

Government Street is a key thoroughfare running through the city’s commercial and residential districts, and pedestrian safety has been a recurring issue in recent years. The absence of the driver, coupled with the circumstances of the collision, has intensified concerns among residents about speeding and inattentive driving in the area.

Officials are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as the case remains open and active. Detectives from the Mobile Police Department are continuing their efforts to locate the suspect and piece together the events leading up to the crash.
