Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – Mobile police are investigating a violent and brazen daytime home invasion after an adult female resident was assaulted during a forceful burglary attempt yesterday morning in the busy Schillinger Road corridor. The incident, classified as Burglary 1st, has shattered the sense of security for neighborhood residents, proving that criminals are willing to strike even in the middle of the day. At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, officers rushed to the 1300 block of Schillinger Road following reports of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officials discovered an adult female victim suffering from minor, non-life-threatening injuries. According to preliminary reports released by the Mobile Police Department (MPD), the victim advised that an unknown male subject forcefully entered her residence. The suspect then allegedly assaulted the woman before fleeing the scene. Shock of Daylight Violence The unusual timing of the crime—just minutes before noon—has heightened community concern. Typically, residential burglaries occur when homes are empty, but the Schillinger Road attack indicates the suspect knowingly, or recklessly, targeted an occupied residence. “This was not just a property crime; this was a violent violation of a person’s home and safety,” stated a source close to the investigation, who stressed the priority of locating the assailant. The victim was treated on the scene for her injuries, the nature of which authorities have not detailed. The swift response by MPD meant the officers found the victim shortly after the harrowing encounter, but the perpetrator had already vanished. MPD Tight-Lipped as Manhunt Continues Law enforcement officials are currently scouring the area for leads, but have released minimal information regarding the suspect’s description or the exact circumstances leading to the forceful entry. The department has confirmed that the investigation is active and intense. “This remains an active investigation, and no further information will be released at this time,” an MPD spokesperson confirmed late Wednesday, citing the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing search. The classification of Burglary 1st in Alabama typically applies when an individual knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a dwelling with the intent to commit a crime, and is armed, causes injury to a non-participant, or uses or threatens the use of a dangerous instrument. In this case, the resulting assault satisfies the heightened charge. Community Urged to Remain Vigilant Police are urging residents in the 1300 block of Schillinger Road and surrounding neighborhoods to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Since the armed and violent suspect remains at large, community cooperation is critical. Anyone who may have seen an unfamiliar vehicle or pedestrian in the vicinity of Schillinger Road around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday is asked to contact the Mobile Police Department immediately at [Placeholder for Non-Emergency Number] or submit an anonymous tip.
