Elderly Woman Jailed Following Fatal Shooting Incident in Tunica County

Emergency dispatchers at the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a pivotal 911 call around 3:15 p.m. The female caller, later identified by officials, informed them of a shooting, stating she had shot her boyfriend. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a male individual inside the residence suffering from a fatal wound. The victim was later identified by the Tunica County Coroner as James Larry Jr., aged 75, a resident of Sledge, Mississippi. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies on site made contact with the initial caller, Mattie Crockett, an 82-year-old woman also from Sledge, Mississippi. Following the interaction, Crockett was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. After her release from the hospital, she was taken into custody and subsequently transferred to the Tunica County Jail, where she remains.
