Mobile County, AL (BuzzReport) – Two individuals died Sunday afternoon following a catastrophic single-vehicle crash in northern Mobile County, according to confirmation released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The violent incident resulted in the vehicle catching fire, leaving both occupants pronounced dead at the scene. The tragedy unfolded at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 23rd, on Alabama 217. Official reports state that the crash occurred near Lanier Lane, a location roughly 10 miles north of the Semmes city limits. Authorities detailed that a Honda Accord left the designated roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree with significant force before it became engulfed in flames. ALEA publicly identified the two victims, both residents of Chunchula, who perished in the wreck. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Johnnie C. Murray. The passenger, 57-year-old Daniel P. Murray, also died as a result of the collision. Troopers assigned to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division immediately launched an investigation into the cause of the fatal crash. Officials have not yet disclosed any further information concerning the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the road, as the full investigation remains active and ongoing.
