Baldwin County, AL (BuzzReport) – A routine neighborly disagreement spiraled into a violent assault last week, leading to the arrest of a 65-year-old man in Baldwin County. The suspect is accused of retrieving a shotgun and shooting his neighbor multiple times following a trivial argument over hot water access. Herbert Eddie Killcreas The incident came to the attention of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) on November 18, after staff at North Baldwin Infirmary notified authorities that a man had arrived at the facility with gunshot injuries. Deputies responded to the hospital and spoke with the victim, who identified his neighbor as the person responsible for the assault, which occurred while the victim was in his yard on Dixon Road. Following the initial statement, law enforcement officials located Killcreas and detained him for questioning regarding the shooting. As the investigation progressed, authorities began to piece together the events leading up to the violence. Officials determined that Killcreas and the victim resided next door to one another. The severe confrontation reportedly began when the victim deactivated the hot water supply while Killcreas was utilizing the shower at the victim’s residence. In response to the alleged action, Killcreas retrieved a shotgun from his vehicle. He proceeded to discharge the weapon, striking the victim. The suspect later informed investigators that his goal in firing the shotgun was not to cause serious harm, but rather to intimidate the victim. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to medical assessments. Killcreas faces a charge of second-degree assault and was subsequently processed and booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center following his arrest.
