MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – A Mobile man has been arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter following a tragic traffic accident Sunday that claimed the life of a juvenile passenger. The devastating incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the severe consequences of impaired driving.

Franklin Arana, 30, the driver of a Toyota 4Runner involved in the fatal collision, was booked into Metro Jail on Monday, October 27, 2025. He faces serious charges after investigators linked his alleged impairment to the death of a young boy.

The tragic sequence of events unfolded on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 3:09 p.m. Mobile police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Montlimar Drive and Michael Boulevard following reports of a severe traffic accident. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a collision involving Arana’s Toyota 4Runner and a Toyota Corolla. The 4Runner had reportedly flipped onto its side.

Tragically, a male juvenile passenger inside the overturned Toyota 4Runner was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

While the specific circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation, police confirmed that no major injuries were reported for either of the drivers or other occupants involved in the crash, underscoring the specific and devastating impact on the young victim.

Following an intensive initial investigation, Arana was identified as the driver of the 4Runner. He was subsequently arrested on Monday and charged with DUI Manslaughter, a felony indicating law enforcement’s belief that his impairment directly contributed to the fatal outcome.

Arana is currently being held at Metro Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings. The Mobile Police Department has stated that this remains an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives are continuing to process evidence, interview witnesses, and compile a comprehensive report.
