15-Month Manhunt Ends in Creek Bed: Adams County Deputies Tase Wanted Felon After Foot Chase

ADAMS COUNTY, MS (BuzzReport)— The 15-month fugitive hunt for a man wanted on serious felony charges concluded dramatically earlier this week when Adams County deputies successfully Tased and arrested him after a desperate chase through a wooded area and creek bed.

Lee Raymond Clay, who had been on the run since July 2023, was finally hauled into custody on Tuesday afternoon following an intense pursuit orchestrated by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten confirmed the apprehension, highlighting the severity of the charges Clay was facing. Clay was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including an indictment for possession of a weapon by a convicted felonand an affidavit for aggravated domestic violence.

“This arrest is the culmination of diligence and persistence on the part of our deputies,” Sheriff Patten stated. “When someone facing charges this severe decides to run, we ensure they know we will maintain the pressure until they are located and brought to justice.”

The Pursuit on Steam Plant Road

The final moments of Clay’s freedom began on October 23, 2025, when deputies responded to a local address on Steam Plant Road in an effort to serve the outstanding indictment and affidavit.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Clay, who immediately decided to flee the scene. According to Sheriff Patten, Clay ran from the home and sprinted toward a nearby wood line.

“He didn’t just run into the woods; he took a calculated, dangerous route,” Patten explained. “He ran down a steep embankment and continued his flight into an active creek bed, attempting to use the dense terrain as cover.”

Tased Twice While Resisting

Deputies swiftly established a tight perimeter around the wooded area. Using their knowledge of the local topography, they began a methodical pursuit, tracking Clay through the difficult environment.

The pursuit reached its climax when deputies located Clay hiding within the dense underbrush near the creek. Confronted by law enforcement, Clay reportedly refused to comply with orders and aggressively resisted arrest.

To safely subdue the suspect and end the standoff, deputies utilized a Taser. Patten confirmed that Clay was Tased twice before he was finally brought under control and taken into custody without further incident.

Following his capture, Clay was transported directly to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. He was formally served with the outstanding indictment and the aggravated domestic violence affidavit.

In addition to his initial felony warrants, Clay now faces a new charge: resisting arrest.

Due to the severity of the prior felony convictions, the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) has placed a hold on Clay, ensuring he remains incarcerated while the legal process moves forward.

The arrest successfully closes a chapter on a 15-month search, bringing an end to the active danger posed to the community.
