MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – The Mobile Police Department demonstrated decisive action this week, announcing the rapid apprehension of a suspect less than 24 hours after a late-night shooting claimed the life of a Mobile woman. The quick closure of the case underscores the department’s commitment to swiftly addressing targeted violence in the community.

David Smith, 21, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025, and charged in connection with the fatal incident that occurred the previous night.

The violence erupted late Tuesday, October 21, at approximately 11:31 p.m., at the property located at 3811 Old Shell Road (Wilmer Hall). Officers responding to reports of a shooting discovered 28-year-old Amiayia White deceased at the scene. Initial reports confirmed that Ms. White was shot inside the location by a male subject who was known to the victim, suggesting that the incident was not a random act of violence.

Sources close to the investigation confirmed that detectives worked through the night, utilizing immediate witness statements and forensic evidence to secure a warrant. By the following day, David Smith was successfully located, arrested without incident, and transported to Mobile Metro Jail, ensuring immediate accountability for the crime.

While the motive remains under investigation, the rapid identification and arrest of Smith offers immediate resolution for a startled neighborhood. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the specific charges Smith faces, though felony murder charges are anticipated. Smith remains held pending initial arraignment.
