Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – What began as a routine call concerning a disruptive man at a Schillinger Road convenience store Friday morning quickly escalated into a major felony arrest after Mobile Police discovered the suspect was sitting inside a vehicle reported stolen across state lines.

Micah Kinchen, 37, was taken into custody and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Disorderly Conduct following the incident that occurred shortly after the morning rush.

A Disturbance at the CEFCO

The dramatic discovery unfolded on Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., when Mobile Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the CEFCO located at 4934 Schillinger Road S.

According to preliminary reports, officers were flagged down by a store clerk who advised that a male subject had been “causing problems” inside the business. The clerk indicated that the disturbance had ceased, but the subject was now seated inside a vehicle parked just outside the establishment.

Routine Check Reveals Interstate Crime

Officers approached the vehicle to question the subject regarding the reported disorderly conduct. During the routine investigation, police ran the license plate and vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car Kinchen was occupying.

The results took an unexpected turn, revealing that the vehicle had been recently reported as stolen out of Mississippi.

The subject, identified as Micah Kinchen, was immediately detained. The initial complaint of disorderly conduct—a misdemeanor—was quickly overshadowed by the felony charge of Receiving Stolen Property.

Kinchen, 37, was formally arrested at the scene without further incident. He was subsequently transported to Metro Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.

Authorities have contacted the originating jurisdiction in Mississippi regarding the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the ongoing investigation.
