Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A brave attempt to pilfer car electronics in broad daylight came to a swift end on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, after Mobile Police Department (MPD) officers rapidly located and arrested a suspect who allegedly stole a radio and speakers from an unlocked vehicle. The incident unfolded just after 11:00 a.m. at the Inn Town Suites, located at 5498 Inn Road. MPD officers were dispatched to the extended-stay facility in response to reports of a subject unlawfully entering a vehicle on the property. According to police logs, the theft was one of opportunity. The suspect reportedly capitalized on the vulnerability of an unlocked car, gaining easy access to the interior before removing the vehicle’s radio unit and speakers. Caught On-Site The swift police response proved critical. Upon arrival, responding officers confirmed the breaking and entering and began their immediate investigation. Unlike many B&E incidents where suspects flee the area quickly, the perpetrator in this case was located nearby, still on the premises of the Inn Town Suites. Officers were able to identify and locate the suspect, 37-year-old Patrick Benson. Following confrontation and a brief investigation, officers confirmed Benson’s alleged involvement in the theft and recovered the stolen musical equipment. Benson was promptly arrested and charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle. He was transported to Metro Jail late Wednesday afternoon, where he is currently being held. Reminder to Residents The Mobile Police Department regularly emphasizes the necessity of securing vehicles, even during daytime hours.
