MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Southwest Memphis neighborhood was rocked by a barrage of gunfire early Friday morning, leaving two people wounded and investigators sifting through over 50 shell casings on a residential street. The brazen attack, which occurred just after 4 a.m. in the 4200 block of Tomahawk Street, saw multiple vehicles open fire on a home where eight people were inside.

Memphis Police Department officers responded to a shots-fired call on Tomahawk Street shortly after the incident. According to Major Timothy Foster, eight individuals were present inside the home when, suddenly, three cars pulled up and unleashed a volley of gunfire.

The intensity of the assault was underscored by the discovery of more than 50 spent shell casings littering the scene, indicating a significant and sustained fusillade. Two of the occupants inside the residence sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. Their current conditions have not been released by authorities.

Investigators are actively working the scene, but as of Friday morning, no suspect information has been made available. The motive behind the early morning assault remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they seek to identify those responsible for the violent incident that shattered the tranquility of the neighborhood.
