MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – The Mobile Police Department is demonstrating a firm commitment to road safety, concluding a targeted overnight traffic enforcement operation in the downtown area this past Friday, August 29, 2025. The initiative, conducted between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., resulted in a significant number of citations and warnings, underscoring the department’s resolve to ensure compliance with state and local traffic laws. During the eight-hour enforcement period, officers issued a total of 151 citations and 41 warnings to drivers. The focused operation aimed to verify valid driver’s licenses, proof of insurance, and current vehicle tag registrations, alongside addressing various moving violations. Speeding emerged as the most prevalent offense, with 50 citations and 13 warnings issued to drivers exceeding the posted limits. This significant number highlights a continued concern for road safety in the bustling downtown corridor. Furthermore, one driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) during the operation, removing a significant risk from Mobile’s roads.
