The complaint, a Writ of Mandamus filed by fellow candidate Reggie Hill, had requested the Circuit Court to instruct the City of Mobile’s Chief Election Officer (CEO) to uphold and enforce the Zoghby Act of 1985, specifically as it pertains to candidacy eligibility. Hill’s suit alleged that Samantha Ingram did not meet the required residency qualifications for the council position.

However, the court’s swift dismissal of the complaint firmly rejects Hill’s attempt to remove Ingram from the ballot, solidifying her status as a legitimate candidate just days before voters head to the polls.

This ruling clarifies the field for what is expected to be a tough race. Samantha Ingram will now face incumbent Councilman William Carroll and Reggie Hill in a contest that will be decided on Tuesday, August 26th.
