Son Charged with Manslaughter in Father’s George County Homicide

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (BuzzReport) – A Lucedale man has been arrested and charged in connection with the homicide of his own father, whose body was discovered early Wednesday morning on Finch Road in George County.

Michael Williams, 34, is facing charges of manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence following the death of his father, 59-year-old David Williams, also of Lucedale.

The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of August 13, 2025. Deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Finch Road at approximately 5:38 a.m. after receiving a report of an incident. Upon arrival, emergency personnel located David Williams deceased at the scene. The George County Criminal Investigations Division (CID) immediately took over the ongoing investigation.

Investigators swiftly identified David Williams’ son, Michael Williams, as a suspect in the case. A Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert was promptly issued by the George County Sheriff’s Office. The swift action led to coordination with the Lucedale Police Department, whose officers successfully conducted a traffic stop and took Michael Williams into custody without incident.

Michael Williams has since been formally charged and is currently being held at the George County Regional Correctional Facility, awaiting his initial appearance before a George County Justice Court Judge.

Sheriff Mitchell Mixon addressed the community following the arrest, emphasizing that the incident appears to be isolated. “We want the public to know that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” Sheriff Mixon stated. He further praised the swift inter-agency cooperation that led to the rapid apprehension. “Thanks to the swift cooperation between our deputies and the Lucedale Police Department, we were able to take a person of interest into custody quickly. We will continue to pursue every lead to ensure justice is served for the victim and their loved ones.”
