GREENSBORO, N.C. — Authorities in Greensboro, North Carolina, are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child following an incident at the Valleygate Dental Surgery Center. According to the child’s family, the toddler had been scheduled for a procedure to cap some of his front teeth at the dental office located at 510 Hickory Ridge Drive.

The family, who traveled from Salisbury for the appointment, reported that the child was taken in for the procedure around 6 a.m. Within 30 to 40 minutes, emergency responders including ambulances and police officers arrived at the dental office. The child was subsequently transported by ambulance to a local emergency room.

Family members expressed distress over not being notified of any complications by the dental office until after the child had been taken to the hospital. The Greensboro Police Department confirmed that officers were dispatched to the dental office at 7:16 a.m. on Thursday in response to a “law assistance” call for service. The police department has since confirmed that they are conducting a death investigation involving a child.

“With this being an active investigation, further details are not being disclosed at this time,” the police department stated in an official statement. The incident has led to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
