Greene County, AL (BuzzReport) – A devastating two-vehicle collision on Interstate 59 in West Alabama claimed the lives of five people, including two children, late Saturday night. According to Alabama State Troopers, the crash occurred at 10:17 p.m. on July 5, near Greene County 20, approximately seven miles south of the Eutaw city limits. The incident involved a head-on collision between a 2019 RAM 1500 pickup driven by 45-year-old Stephen L. Keele of Ellisville, Mississippi, and a 2022 Toyota Sienna van driven by 36-year-old Tejaswini R. Cholleti of Aubrey, Texas. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. Tragically, the passengers in the Toyota Sienna, identified as Sri V. Bejugam, 40, and two children, a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old, all from Aubrey, Texas, also succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to catch fire, exacerbating the severity of the incident. Alabama State Troopers are working to determine the cause of the crash and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
