TALLULAH, Louisiana (BuzzReport) – The Buzz Report has learned that The City of Tallulah will experience a change in leadership as Mayor Charles Finlayson has submitted his resignation, effective 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. In his resignation letter, Finlayson cited health concerns as the reason for his decision to step down.

According to Louisiana Revised Statutes 18:602(A), the City Council is required to appoint an interim mayor within 20 days of the vacancy, which would be by Monday, July 29, 2025. If the City Council fails to meet this deadline, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has the authority to fill the position.

In his letter, Finlayson expressed gratitude to the City and Council members for their commitment to Tallulah and urged citizens to work together to advance the community forward.
