MOBILE, AL — Michael Pierce, Executive Director of the Mobile Housing Authority (MHA), has been terminated from his position following a vote by the agency’s Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, July 1. The decision comes after Pierce was placed on administrative leave last month, reportedly due to an undisclosed complaint concerning his performance. A board member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the vote took place on Tuesday. The commissioner stated that three members voted in favor of Pierce’s termination, one voted against it, and a fifth board member departed the meeting early. The specific nature of the complaint that led to Pierce’s initial leave and subsequent termination remains unclear at this time. Pierce’s termination became effective immediately following the board’s decision. The Mobile Housing Authority has not yet released an official statement regarding the termination.
