Voters will weigh the track record of the current officeholder against the visions offered by those seeking to lead Selma forward. The race for City Council Presidentfeatures a direct contest between incumbent Warren “Billy” Young and challenger Kennard Randolph, signaling a clear choice for voters on the council’s presiding leadership. Across the city’s eight wards, incumbents and new faces are presenting their platforms for City Council seats. In Ward 1, Troy Harvill (i) is challenged by Charles Bennett and Felicia King-Thomas. Ward 2 sees Christie Thomas (i) seeking to retain her seat against Otto Hunter and Trebor Dukes. Ward 3’s Clay Carmichael (i) is in contention with Collins Pettaway, III. Ward 4 is an uncontested race, with Lesia James (i) set to continue her service.
