Brazen Shoplifting Attempt Turns Violent at Mobile Walgreens, Employee Injured

MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – A brazen attempt at shoplifting at a local Walgreens escalated into a violent confrontation Wednesday night, leaving a dedicated employee with minor injuries and her personal property stolen. Mobile Police are actively pursuing leads following the incident on Airport Boulevard.

Officers with the Mobile Police Department swiftly responded to the Walgreens at 3948 Airport Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, following reports of a robbery in progress. According to an official MPD news release, the situation unfolded when a store employee discovered two women attempting to exit the establishment with a significant amount of merchandise they had not paid for.

The employee’s courageous action to intervene directly led to a struggle with the suspects. During the ensuing confrontation, the employee sustained minor injuries. In a further act of defiance, the women seized the employee’s personal cell phone before fleeing the scene.

While no arrests have been made at this time, the Mobile Police Department has confirmed that a robust investigation is underway.
