Prichard, AL (BuzzReport) – The qualifying period for municipal candidates in Mobile County has officially ended, and the ballot is nearly set for the upcoming elections. In the City of Prichard, a total of 10 candidates have thrown their hats into the ring to become the city’s next mayor, including the incumbent and a former mayor. The mayoral race is expected to be highly competitive, with a diverse range of candidates vying for the top spot. The candidates are: Anthony Clarkbanks Rodney Tyrese Clements, Jr. Carletta J. Davis Jimmie Gardner Charles E. Harden Terrance Harris Lorenzo Martin Janette Pogue Kelvin T. Thornton Helen Wright In addition to the mayoral race, the city council seats are also up for grabs. While Council Districts 1 and 2 will be uncontested, with Councilwomen Annie Williams and Stephanie Johnson-Norwood running unopposed, Districts 3, 4, and 5 will see a crowded field of candidates. In District 3, the candidates are: Mario Cannon Tony Causey Traci D. Hale Mario D. Yow, Sr. In District 4, the candidates are: Teresa Fox Bettis George E. McCall, Jr. Brittany K. Moore In District 5, the candidates are: Anthony E. Barry Kalla Etheredge Roy Smith, II Notably, Councilwoman Ossie Edwards and Councilman Derrick Griffin have chosen not to seek re-election, leaving their seats open to new candidates. The Prichard municipal elections will take place on Tuesday, August 26th, giving voters the opportunity to shape the future of their city.
