Washington D.C. – Former President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) Sunday, branding the Kentucky lawmaker “weak,” “lazy,” and “pathetic” in a scathing Truth Social post. The outburst follows Massie’s vocal opposition to Trump’s policies on Iran and his vote against a signature bill last month, signaling a renewed intra-party battle within the Republican ranks. Trump accused Massie, a staunch advocate for constitutional principles, of not being “MAGA” and vowed to campaign “really hard” for a primary challenger in next year’s election. “MAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!” Trump proclaimed, further labeling him a “negative force” and a “simple minded grandstander.” The crux of Trump’s ire appears to stem from Massie’s independent stance, particularly his criticism of potential U.S. military action in Iran. Massie recently joined Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) in introducing a bipartisan resolution requiring explicit congressional authorization before any strike against Iran. Speaking on “Face the Nation,” Massie condemned the recent attack on Iran as unconstitutional. “Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes ‘NO’ on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something may be,” Trump wrote, seemingly dismissing Massie’s commitment to limited government and adherence to constitutional principles. This isn’t the first time Trump has targeted Massie. However, this time, the threat carries more weight. According to Axios, Trump’s team is launching a super PAC dedicated to funding a MAGA-approved rival to challenge Massie. Trump advisor Chris LaCivita reportedly stated the PAC would spend “whatever it takes” to unseat the Kentucky congressman. The escalating feud highlights the ongoing tension between traditional conservative principles and the more populist, America First policies championed by Trump. While Trump has urged voters to reject Massie in the past without success, the backing of a well-funded super PAC could present a significant challenge for the congressman in the upcoming primary. The clash serves as a stark reminder that within the Republican Party, loyalty to Trump remains a key battleground issue, and dissent, even on constitutional grounds, can draw the full force of the former president’s wrath.
