TAYLORSVILLE, Miss. (BuzzReport) –The Taylorsville Police Department is facing intense scrutiny amid accusations of alleged cover-up after refusing to release the identity of a convicted felon who shot and killed a black man, Austin Jones, in an incident being framed as a “Good Samaritan” act.

Details surrounding the killing are rapidly evolving, raising serious questions about transparency and equal justice in Taylorsville. Initial reports suggested Jones was attempting to rob a white man who stopped to assist him on the roadside. Taylorsville Police Chief Gabe Horn lauded the man as a “Good Samaritan” for defending himself with one of the three firearms allegedly present in his vehicle.

However, BuzzReport has learned of disturbing information that casts a dark shadow on this narrative. Sources reveal that the “Good Samaritan” is a convicted felon with a history of violence, including an alleged attempt to run over a minor. Under Mississippi law, it is illegal for a convicted felon to possess a firearm.

According to reports, the individual admitted to police that he had three guns in his car. This admission not only constitutes a crime but also suggests the potential for an enhanced penalty if the weapon was used in the commission of a crime. Shockingly, the “Good Samaritan” has not been arrested for illegal firearm possession.

Adding fuel to the fire, sources indicate that the Taylorsville Police Department directed Hattiesburg News to contact the victim’s family if they wished to learn the name of the “Good Samaritan.” This unusual response raises serious questions about the department’s priorities and its commitment to transparency in a case with significant racial undertones.

The Taylorsville Police Department’s decision to shield a convicted felon while simultaneously appearing to deflect inquiries to the deceased man’s family is deeply troubling. This raises legitimate concerns about potential bias and a deliberate obstruction of justice. Why is the Taylorsville Police Department so determined to protect this individual’s identity? What are they trying to hide?

This is a rapidly developing story. BuzzReport is committed to uncovering the truth and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. The public demands answers, and we will not rest until the full story is brought to light.

All individuals are innocent until proven guilty.
