Wife of Fired Mobile Police Sergeant Arrested for Harassing Witnesses in Internal Investigation

Mobile, AL – Courtney Rogers, 37, is facing two counts of harassing communications after allegedly targeting witnesses involved in an internal investigation into her husband, former Mobile Police Department (MPD) Sergeant Gary Rogers. She was booked into Metro Jail Monday night, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

The arrest throws another log onto the firestorm surrounding the Rogers family, which began with a fatal car crash involving their son, Dawson Rogers, and has since escalated into a tangled web of accusations, terminations, and now, criminal charges.

According to the MCSO, Courtney Rogers is accused of “blaming those that cooperated” in the internal probe, which centered on the conduct of Gary Rogers in connection to the aftermath of the deadly wreck that claimed the life of Nolan McDavid. Gary Rogers was terminated from the MPD on June 6th, though the department has declined to comment if his firing was directly related to the internal investigation or the initial complaint.

The allegations against Courtney Rogers are particularly disturbing. On June 7th, one victim reported that Rogers allegedly posted their previous arrest information and criminal charges on social media. Investigators say this individual had cooperated with Alabama State Troopers at the scene of the fatal crash in November and had also been interviewed by MPD’s Internal Affairs Unit about Gary Rogers’ actions.

The District Attorney’s office, after reviewing the evidence, determined that harassing communications charges were appropriate in this case.

This latest development comes after Dawson Rogers was initially charged with manslaughter in connection to the deadly wreck. Investigators allege he was drunk and speeding at the time of the crash that killed Nolan McDavid. In March, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office significantly upgraded the charge to murder, reflecting the severity of the alleged crime.

The Rogers family now faces a serious legal gauntlet. With Dawson Rogers facing a murder charge and Courtney Rogers facing charges of harassing communications, the aftermath of the tragic death of Nolan McDavid continues to reverberate throughout the Mobile community.
