SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (BuzzReport) – An Alabama man has been indicted on additional charges in connection with the murder of a Bristol, Tennessee, man that occurred over two decades ago. Christopher James Havrilla, 51, was initially indicted in March for the murder of 24-year-old Cody Scott Matney, who disappeared from a business on West State Street in Bristol in April 2002. Following further investigation, Havrilla was served with a superseding indictment charging him with multiple counts, including First Degree Murder, First Degree Murder in Perpetration of Kidnapping, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Tampering with Evidence, Abuse of a Corpse, and two counts of False Report. Havrilla was located and arrested in Orange Beach, Alabama, by Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation and subsequently extradited to Tennessee. He is currently being held at the Sullivan County Jail on a $1 million bond with the condition that he wear an ankle monitor if released. Havrilla was arraigned on the new charges last week.
