Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)- A murder case halted as plea bargain unfolded in the Mobile County courthouse,. The plea bargain brought an abrupt end to the highly anticipated trial of two men accused of murder. William Levor Anderson IV, 21, of Chickasaw, and Michael Lee Lambert, 23, of Mobile, had been set to face testimony and evidence in the case, but instead pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

According to the plea agreement, prosecutors amended the original murder charge, and the defendants received 15-year prison sentences from Presiding Circuit Judge Wesley Pipes. The judge also dismissed an attempting to elude charge against Anderson in a separate case.

The case stemmed from a shooting incident on Main Street in May 2021, where Jamarquez Tucker was fatally shot and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The plea bargain came after Judge Pipes denied a request by Anderson’s attorney to try his client separately from co-defendant Lambert.

The outcome of the case brings closure to the victim’s family and loved ones, but raises questions about the justice system’s approach to violent crime. The community will be watching closely as the defendants begin their prison sentences.
