Police Apprehend Suspect After Chase leaves Police Cruiser Crashed

Mobile, AL – Early Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, the Mobile Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 1600 block of St. Stephens Road. Officers swiftly arrived on the scene, where they observed a male subject discarding a firearm near the 1608 Sports Bar and Grill.

After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. Xavier Penn, 26, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

However, the response was momentarily complicated when an officer’s vehicle collided with another car while en route to the initial call. A parked vehicle was also struck in the incident. One person was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, but fortunately, no major injuries were reported.
