75 Year Old Man Dead in Mobile Police Involved Shooting

Mobile, AL – A tense standoff between Mobile police officers and a 75-year-old man ended in tragedy on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Dawes Road, where officers initiated a traffic stop around 8:46 p.m.

According to authorities, the stop was prompted by an earlier threat to kill a woman in the 9000 block of Scott Dairy Loop Road S. When officers approached the suspect, he produced a firearm and threatened to harm himself. Despite extended attempts at de-escalation, the situation escalated when the man pointed the gun at officers, who responded with deadly force.

Mobile police officers were forced to engage the subject after he pointed a firearm at them. Medical personnel arrived quickly and pronounced the subject deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased will not be released until his family has been notified. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, as per standard protocol, pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident.
