Gulf Shores, AL – In a boost to the region’s tourism and travel industry, Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) has welcomed its first commercial flight and announced two new destination cities. Allegiant Airlines, a popular low-cost carrier, has begun service to the beachside airport, connecting travelers to key markets in the Midwest.

Starting October 2, 2025, Allegiant will operate flights from Gulf Shores to Appleton, Wisconsin (ATW) and Des Moines, Iowa (DSM), with one-way fares as low as $59*. The Appleton route will commence on October 2, while flights to Des Moines will begin on October 3.

The arrival of Allegiant Airlines and these new routes marks a major milestone for Gulf Shores International Airport, which has been working to expand its commercial air service offerings. The airport’s location near the popular beachside resorts and attractions makes it an attractive destination for travelers seeking sun, sand, and relaxation.

The addition of these new routes is expected to drive economic growth, increase visitor numbers, and provide more convenient travel options for residents and tourists alike. With Allegiant’s affordable fares and convenient flight schedules, Gulf Shores is poised to become a more accessible destination for travelers from across the country.
