Macon, GA – Three female inmates at the Bibb County Jail were rushed to Atrium Health Navicent on Thursday night after suffering a suspected overdose. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the unresponsive inmates during a routine block check around 11 pm.

Prompt action by the deputies led to the administration of Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdose effects. After receiving medical treatment at the hospital, the inmates were released back to the jail and are currently in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation, but officials have not confirmed whether a specific substance is suspected to be the cause of the overdose. This event follows a recent report by the Macon District Attorney’s Office into the death of inmate Stephen Fossett, who died after being Tased and suffering a medical emergency behind bars due to the effects of synthetic marijuana, K2.

The sheriff’s office is looking into the matter, but details about the substances involved in the latest incident remain unclear.
