Mobile, AL (BizzReport) – A 72-year-old Foley man was taken into custody Thursday after an incident on the University of South Alabama campus. According to authorities, Victor Fernandez was arrested by University of South Alabama police after allegedly hitting a security guard with his vehicle near the Mitchell Center. The security guard was treated at the scene for injuries sustained during the incident and later transported to a local hospital. Fernandez was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on a charge of second-degree assault. He was released later that day on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 22. The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear.
