Mobile Neurosurgeon Shawn Clark Found Dead Inside Vehicle On Airport Boulevard

MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A body was discovered inside a vehicle in a parking lot along Airport Boulevard on Monday, November 2, as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a Mobile neurosurgeon who was facing multiple child pornography charges in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Sources have identified the deceased as 59-year-old Shawn Clark, a physician who operated a neurosurgery practice in Mobile. Clark was arrested in September after investigators uncovered allegations involving child sexual abuse material.

Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his body. Officials reportedly do not suspect foul play, but the cause and manner of death remain undetermined as the investigation continues.

Clark Faced Multiple Criminal Charges

Clark’s death comes less than two months after his arrest on a series of serious criminal charges.

According to investigators, Clark was arrested September 3 near his home in Montrose following an investigation that began months earlier.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit reportedly received a tip in March concerning possible child sexual abuse material associated with internet protocol addresses connected to a residence in Fairhope and a medical office in Mobile County.

The investigation eventually led authorities to Clark.

In Mobile County, Clark was charged with 10 counts involving child pornography, including five counts of possession and five counts of production.

Investigators said the material allegedly involved images of real children, as well as AI-generated images.

Following his arrest, Clark was booked into the Mobile Metro Jail before posting bond. However, he was subsequently arrested in Baldwin County, where he faced four additional counts of possession of child pornography.

Clark pleaded not guilty to the charges in Mobile County.

The allegations against Clark had not been adjudicated at the time of his death.

Previous Suicide Attempt Reported

Clark was also hospitalized in September following a reported suicide attempt.

On September 17, he was reportedly taken for medical treatment after allegedly breaking a plastic dish and using a jagged piece of it to cut his arm.

The incident occurred while Clark was facing the criminal charges stemming from the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have not publicly detailed whether the September incident is connected to the circumstances surrounding his death Monday.
