ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. (BuzzReport) — An Alabama state representative and the president of the Satsuma City School Board have been arrested in Escambia County and are facing serious criminal charges, including first-degree human trafficking.

According to the Escambia County Jail log, State Representative Brett Easterbrook and Satsuma City School Board President Kory Wesley were arrested Friday, Oct. 2, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Easterbrook was booked on charges of first-degree human trafficking and prostitution, while Wesley was booked on charges of first-degree human trafficking and attempting to elude police.

The arrests involve two individuals holding prominent positions in the community and government. Easterbrook serves as an Alabama state representative, while Wesley serves as president of the Satsuma City Schools Board of Education.

The Satsuma City Schools system acknowledged the arrest of a member of its Board of Education in a statement posted to its Facebook page.

Authorities have not yet released additional details explaining what led to the arrests or the specific allegations underlying the charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
