Mobile, Alabama (BuzzReport) — A late-night shooting at a Mobile lounge has turned into a homicide investigation after a man was shot during an apparent physical altercation and later died at a local hospital.

Mobile Police Department officers were dispatched at approximately 2:08 a.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026, to 1441 Navco Road, the location of Poinse’s Lounge, following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Emergency personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators determined that a physical confrontation had taken place in the parking lot involving several individuals. During the altercation, police say a male subject produced a firearm and shot the victim.

Authorities later identified the suspect as 29-year-old DelJuan Thomas. Police located Thomas a short time after the shooting and took him into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to Metro Jail.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released as investigators work to notify his next of kin.

The information surrounding the altercation and what led to the shooting remain under investigation. Detectives are working to determine the events immediately preceding the gunfire and whether additional individuals may have information relevant to the case.
