SPANISH FORT, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A federal law enforcement agent is facing multiple serious felony charges following an investigation in Baldwin County, authorities announced Saturday. Kent Blacklidge turned himself in to the Baldwin County Jail on Saturday, September 5, in connection with an investigation that resulted in a lengthy list of criminal charges. According to authorities, Blacklidge was booked on the following charges: Rape in the First Degree Rape in the Second Degree Sodomy in the First Degree Sodomy in the Second Degree Two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree Two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree Incest Blacklidge is identified as a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Authorities said he was placed on administrative leave at the onset of the investigation. The case has drawn particular attention because of Blacklidge’s position in federal law enforcement. The allegations involve extremely serious offenses, and the investigation underscores the principle that law enforcement personnel remain subject to the criminal justice system regardless of their professional status. Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber emphasized that principle in a statement regarding the investigation. “Without fear or favor, our responsibility in law enforcement is to pursue justice and protect victims of crime, regardless if the perpetrator wears a badge or not.” Authorities have announced that a press conference concerning the case will be held Tuesday, September 8. Officials said additional information regarding the time and location of the press conference will be released at a later date.
