Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A late-night traffic stop in Mobile turned into a police pursuit early Thursday morning after officers say a driver refused to pull over, eventually crashing into a ditch near Maitre Park with possession with intent to distribute. The incident happened at approximately 12:08 a.m. on August 27, 2026, when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Broad Street and Government Street. According to authorities, the driver failed to stop for officers, prompting a pursuit that continued westbound along Government Street. Officers followed the vehicle as the situation unfolded through the early-morning hours. The pursuit came to an abrupt end near Maitre Park, where the vehicle left the roadway and struck a ditch. Rather than remain at the scene, the driver reportedly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and were able to take him into custody a short distance from the crash site. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Devon Partain. Following his arrest, Partain was transported to Metro Jail. The incident remains under investigation, and additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the attempted traffic stop and the charges filed against Partain was not immediately available.
