High-Speed Pursuits End in Drug Arrests, Major Narcotics and Gun Seizure in Mobile County

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested Tuesday following separate high-speed pursuits in Mobile County, one of which involved a suspect allegedly ramming multiple sheriff’s vehicles in an attempt to escape, authorities said.

The arrests followed a coordinated investigation involving the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Gulf of America Task Force targeting a suspected drug pipeline operating between South Florida and Mobile County.

Authorities said the operation resulted in the seizure of five pounds of methamphetamine, one kilogram of cocaine, 21 grams of fentanyl and 10 firearms.

Investigators initially focused on Dramico Monte Bailey Jr., 29, who was allegedly observed meeting Kashunte Quintrell Tate, 28, in the parking lot of a business in Semmes Tuesday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators believed the meeting was connected to a suspected drug transaction. After the meeting, deputies attempted to stop Tate, who was driving a black Honda Accord.

Tate allegedly refused to stop and accelerated away, leading deputies on a pursuit that reached speeds of more than 100 mph.

Deputies eventually used a vehicle intervention maneuver to bring the pursuit to an end. Authorities said no civilians were injured during the chase.

Investigators also alleged that Tate attempted to destroy suspected illegal pills while fleeing from law enforcement. He was ultimately taken into custody.

The operation quickly shifted to Bailey, whom task force investigators attempted to arrest near Jeff Hamilton Road and McFarland Road.

Authorities said Bailey also attempted to escape, allegedly ramming several Mobile County Sheriff’s Office vehicles as he tried to break free. The incident triggered another pursuit, which continued through the area before ending near Airport Boulevard and I-65 Service Road North.

After Bailey was taken into custody, investigators searched his vehicle and reportedly discovered approximately four pounds of methamphetamine.

The investigation did not end with the vehicle search.

Authorities subsequently obtained and executed search warrants at locations connected to Bailey, including his residence. Those searches allegedly uncovered additional quantities of narcotics, bringing the total seizure to five pounds of methamphetamine, one kilogram of cocaine and 21 grams of fentanyl.

Investigators also recovered a significant cache of firearms, including three semi-automatic rifles and seven handguns, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both Bailey and Tate were booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail.

Officials said the investigation remains active and that additional state and federal charges are expected as investigators continue examining the suspected drug trafficking operation and the defendants’ alleged roles in it.
