UPDATE: Mobile Police Identify Victim and Gunman in Fatal Devander Drive Murder-Suicide

MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Mobile Police have identified the two people involved in a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of a man and a woman late Tuesday night in the city’s Toulminville area.

According to an update released by the Mobile Police Department, the victim has been identified as Jessica Tucker, 37, while the deceased suspect has been identified as Frederick Barnes, 37.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 11:33 p.m., when officers responded to the 1200 block of Devander Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a female victim and a male subject deceased outside of a residence.

Investigators determined that Barnes allegedly shot Tucker while she was sitting inside a parked vehicle at the home. Authorities say Barnes then exited the vehicle area and died from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside the residence.

The Mobile Police Department has classified the incident as an active investigation. While detectives have determined the shooting involved individuals who were known to one another, investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances or motive behind the deadly encounter.

The deaths have left another Mobile family grieving as investigators continue working to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
