BIRMINGHAM, AL (BuzzReport) — A Birmingham man is behind bars after authorities say he was arrested in connection with a first-degree robbery that occurred earlier this week. According to the Birmingham Police Department, 35-year-old Danzel Ardis, of Birmingham, has been charged with Robbery in the First Degree following an incident that took place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the 1900 block of Heron Johnson Drive. Investigators moved quickly following the reported robbery and successfully identified Ardis as the suspect. Police took him into custody the same day the crime occurred, and officials said the arrest was made without incident. First-degree robbery is one of Alabama’s most serious felony offenses and generally involves the use of a deadly weapon, dangerous instrument, or circumstances in which a victim suffers serious physical injury during the commission of a theft. Following his arrest, Ardis was booked into the Jefferson County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond while the case proceeds through the judicial system. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the robbery, including whether anyone was injured or what property was allegedly taken. The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are continuing to gather evidence. As with all criminal cases, the charge against Ardis is an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The Birmingham Police Department encourages anyone with additional information related to this case to contact investigators as the investigation continues.
