Job Interview Takes Unexpected Turn as Applicant Is Arrested at Mississippi Jail

Jones County, MS (BuzzReport)—A job interview at a Mississippi detention facility took a dramatic and unexpected turn when an applicant seeking to become a corrections officer was instead taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, 30-year-old Keshawn Moore arrived at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility on Tuesday for a scheduled job interview after applying for a position as a corrections officer.

Before the interview began, Captain Cynthia Terrell conducted a standard pre-employment background check, a routine part of the hiring process for law enforcement personnel. During that review, authorities discovered Moore was wanted by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department on a felony warrant for credit card fraud.

Jones County Deputy Davy Keith was immediately dispatched to the detention facility, where Moore was taken into custody without incident.

Instead of beginning a career in corrections, Moore was booked into the very facility where he had hoped to work. After his arrest, he was later transferred to the custody of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department, where he will face the outstanding felony charge.

The unusual arrest has drawn attention due to the irony of the situation, as Moore reportedly arrived expecting a job interview but left the facility in handcuffs after authorities uncovered the active warrant during the routine screening process.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department said the background check was conducted as part of its standard hiring procedures, underscoring the importance of thoroughly vetting applicants for positions within law enforcement.
