MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport)—A Mobile County judge has imposed strict new communication restrictions on a Mobile County Metro Jail inmate accused of serious child sex offenses after learning he allegedly made hundreds of contacts with the alleged victim while behind bars. During a recent court hearing, the judge ordered that 22-year-old Clifton Morse, of Mobile, be prohibited from participating in video visitation while incarcerated. The court also restricted Morse’s phone privileges, allowing him to communicate only with his attorney, his stepmother, and his grandmother. The restrictions were issued after the court was informed that Morse had reportedly contacted the alleged victim 381 times since April 30, despite an existing no-contact order. The judge emphasized that the no-contact order remains fully in effect and that any attempts to communicate with the victim are prohibited. Morse is currently being held in the Mobile County Metro Jail on charges of facilitating the travel of a child for an unlawful sex act and second-degree rape, according to jail records. The allegations have drawn significant attention due to the nature of the charges and the concerns raised about continued contact with the alleged victim. The court called the hearing specifically to address the reported communications and determine whether additional safeguards were necessary to protect the alleged victim and preserve the integrity of the ongoing legal proceedings. At this stage, Morse has not been indicted. His case is awaiting review by a grand jury, which will decide whether sufficient evidence exists to move forward with formal felony charges. A review hearing has been scheduled for next month, when the court is expected to revisit the matter and assess compliance with the newly imposed restrictions. As the investigation and court proceedings continue, authorities have not released additional details regarding the alleged offenses. Morse remains in custody pending further legal action.
