MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A Monday morning dispute on Navco Road escalated into a theft investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Mobile woman, according to authorities. The incident occurred on June 22, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., when officers responded to the 800 block of Navco Road following reports of a theft of property. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that a known individual had allegedly taken a personal item from them following a verbal confrontation. According to police, the dispute quickly intensified when the suspect reportedly physically removed the item from the victim’s possession. Investigators say the victim followed behind the suspect after the incident occurred. During that time, the suspect allegedly discarded the stolen item, allowing it to be recovered. Responding officers located and detained the suspect without further incident. No injuries were reported during the encounter. Authorities identified the suspect as Laportia Williams, 36. She was taken into custody and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail, where she was booked in connection with the case. The circumstances that led to the verbal altercation have not been released, and authorities have not indicated whether additional charges may be forthcoming. The investigation remains under review by law enforcement officials.
