MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A vehicle repossession attempt in Mobile escalated into a dangerous confrontation Tuesday evening when a woman allegedly opened fire on a man attempting to recover a vehicle, according to authorities.

Police were dispatched to the area of Government Street and Mohawk Street on June 9, 2026, at approximately 5:40 p.m. following reports of a robbery and gunfire.

Upon arrival, responding officers learned that a male victim was in the process of repossessing a vehicle when the situation turned violent. Investigators say a female suspect allegedly fired multiple shots in the direction of the victim during the encounter.

Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire, and no injuries were reported. However, the incident created a dangerous situation in a heavily traveled area of the city, placing nearby motorists and residents at risk.

Authorities have not released details regarding what led up to the shooting, whether the repossession was being conducted by a licensed recovery agent, or if the vehicle owner was involved in the confrontation. Investigators are also working to determine the exact sequence of events and whether additional individuals were present when the shots were fired.

Vehicle repossessions can often become tense situations, but law enforcement officials stress that disputes over property should never escalate to violence. The discharge of a firearm during such incidents can result in serious criminal charges, including attempted assault, reckless endangerment, or other felony offenses depending on the circumstances uncovered during the investigation.

The identity of the female subject involved has not been released, and no arrests have been announced as of Wednesday morning.

Police continue to collect evidence, interview witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences.

The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information related to the shooting to contact investigators.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Mobile Police Department or submit anonymous tips through local Crime Stoppers channels.
