MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A fatal traffic accident in west Mobile early Thursday morning has claimed the life of an adult male, according to authorities.

The Mobile Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Moffett Road and Howells Ferry Road at approximately 4:49 a.m. on June 4, 2026, following reports of a serious traffic collision.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an adult male suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Despite efforts by medical staff to save his life, the victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of family members. Details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the number of vehicles involved and whether any additional injuries were reported, have not been made public.

Investigators remained at the scene for several hours gathering evidence, documenting the crash site, and working to determine the factors that contributed to the collision.

The intersection of Moffett Road and Howells Ferry Road is a heavily traveled corridor in Mobile, and serious accidents in the area often result in significant traffic disruptions while emergency crews and investigators conduct their work.

At this time, the Mobile Police Department has classified the case as an active investigation. Officials have indicated that no further information will be released while investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
