Patient Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Employee At BayPointe Hospital In Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A Mobile man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting a hospital employee while receiving treatment at a local medical facility during the early morning hours of May 27.

According to authorities, officers with the Mobile Police Department responded to BayPointe Hospital, located at 5800 Southland Drive, at approximately 3:36 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, following reports of an assault inside the facility.

When officers arrived, they discovered a female employee who had suffered minor injuries during the incident. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Officials have not released her identity.

Investigators determined that the alleged attacker was a male patient who was being treated at the hospital at the time of the incident. Police launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault and gathered evidence from the scene.

As the investigation progressed, authorities identified the suspect as Wilburn Fowler, 35. Fowler was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Mobile Metro Jail, where he was booked on charges related to the incident.

Officials have not disclosed what may have led to the confrontation or whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
