Chickasaw. AL (BuzzReport)— Chickasaw Police Department is facing scrutiny after one of its officers was charged with a criminal offense and placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

According to Chickasaw Police Chief, Officer Johnny Duval has been placed on leave while the department conducts an internal review into the allegations. The chief stated that department policy limits what information can be publicly released regarding personnel matters and declined to comment further on the investigation.

Court records show Duval turned himself in Friday and was booked on a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing in the first degree. Authorities said he bonded out approximately one hour later.

According to charging documents, Duval is accused of knowingly entering or remaining unlawfully inside a dwelling during an incident that allegedly occurred in October 2025.

The case has drawn attention across the community due to Duval’s lengthy history in local law enforcement and public outreach efforts. Duval has served with the Chickasaw Police Department for approximately four years. Prior to joining the department, he worked with the Mobile Police Department, where he was recognized as Officer of the Month in both 2015 and 2017.

Throughout his career, Duval also served as a School Resource Officer and participated in several community engagement initiatives in Chickasaw, including youth-focused programs such as Cops for Kids.

The criminal charge now places the veteran officer under both judicial and administrative review as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged trespassing incident. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
