One Dead, Suspect in Custody After Shooting in Gautier Neighborhood

GAUTIER, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A fatal shooting in a residential neighborhood in Gautier has left one person dead and a suspect in custody, according to the Gautier Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Lima Drive, where they arrived to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say officers quickly developed information leading to a suspect. With the assistance of K-9 units, law enforcement was able to locate and take the individual into custody without further incident.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, and officers are continuing to maintain a presence in the Lima Drive area as detectives work to gather additional evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Gautier Police Department expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department during the response.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
