BAY MINETTE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — The City of Bay Minette has selected a seasoned law enforcement veteran to lead its police department, announcing the appointment of James Rosier Jr. as the city’s next chief of police.

Rosier brings nearly three decades of experience in law enforcement to the role, having served with both the Mobile Police Department and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. His extensive background includes years of patrol work, supervisory leadership, and community-focused policing efforts.

Mayor Joshua Brown said Rosier emerged as the top candidate following a comprehensive and competitive selection process. City leaders emphasized his experience, leadership qualities, and vision for the department as key factors in the decision.

Rosier will succeed former Police Chief Al Tolbert, who stepped down from the position in November. Tolbert has since taken a role with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

City officials confirmed that Rosier is scheduled to be formally sworn in on May 6, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Bay Minette Police Department.
