Armed Shoplifting Incident Under Investigation at West Mobile Convenience Store

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Mobile Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday morning at a convenience store on Schillinger Road, where a suspect allegedly threatened an employee with a knife before fleeing with stolen merchandise.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:55 a.m. on March 28, 2026, to the Corner Market located at 740 Schillinger Road North in response to a reported robbery in progress.

Preliminary findings indicate that a male suspect attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise. When confronted by an employee, the situation escalated as the suspect reportedly produced a knife and threatened the worker. Investigators say the employee was able to avoid injury during the encounter.

Police say the suspect ultimately fled the scene with the unpaid items before officers arrived. A description of the individual has not yet been released.

The incident is being classified as a robbery due to the use of a weapon during the commission of the theft. Detectives are actively working to identify and locate the suspect.

No injuries have been reported at this time. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Mobile Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
