Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A Mobile man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after police say he carried out a series of vehicle burglaries in a residential neighborhood, prompting concerns about overnight crime in the area.

According to authorities, officers responded to a reported burglary at approximately 4:00 a.m. on March 26, 2026, in the area of Highmont Drive. Upon arrival, officers quickly canvassed the neighborhood and located a male subject who matched the description provided by the caller and was still in the vicinity.

Following an on-scene investigation, officers determined the individual was responsible for multiple vehicle break-ins throughout the area. Police say a total of six vehicles had been burglarized within a short time frame.

Authorities also confirmed that several stolen items were recovered, including a firearm, raising the seriousness of the incident and potential safety risks for residents.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Zachary Diaz, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail. He now faces multiple charges related to the vehicle burglaries.

Police have not released additional details about whether the vehicles were locked at the time of the break-ins, but incidents like these often serve as a reminder for residents to secure their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges.
